Fifteen years ago, in my hometown of Corn Island, I joined a youth club at the invitation of a schoolmate—a learning collective that transformed my life forever.
Today, I reflect on that shy teenager I once was, and how this decision helped me find my path and realise the importance of working for others, for the community, especially for the most vulnerable.
Young people are instruments of social transformation, the solution to many problems in the contemporary world—issues that can only be resolved or eradicated by individuals who are conscious and committed to their surroundings.
Education is a key element in this process, as it provides the necessary tools to address current challenges and expands knowledge to foster positive developments.
On International Youth Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all adolescents, young people, organisations, and individuals dedicated to social transformation. My invitation is for you to be willing to embrace social change, to be the change you wish to see in your environment, and to continue contributing efforts to make this world a better place.
